Dimensions of Sprocket

Sprockets can be classified into typical sprockets, HK sprockets and other sprockets.
one. Conventional sprocket
Normal sprockets are ANSI sprockets which can be engaged with standard series roller chains. See P125 for dimensions.
There are actually two kinds of tooth profiles: U-tooth and S-tooth.
2. HK sprocket
HK sprockets is often engaged with HK series roller chains, and those for single strand chains are identical to common sprockets. On the other hand, sprockets for a number of strand chains are distinctive from conventional sprockets in sprocket tooth profile.
3. Other sprockets
Other sprockets are made in accordance to your following calculation formulas to suit respective specialty chains.
The sprockets used for that following chains would be the very same as the common sprockets in tooth gap kind, but unique in tooth thickness (sprocket tooth profile).
four. Calculation of sprocket dimensions
The dimensions of regular sprockets along with other common sprockets are calculated as follows. Initially, the diameters of sprockets are calculated in the following calculation formulas.
Next, sprocket tooth profile (the shape from the tooth determined by its thickness) is calculated from the following calculation formulas. (The values proven within the following pages had been calculated by these formulas and regarded as the regular values.)

Calculation of pitch diameter, tip diameter and caliper diameter
The basic dimensions of the sprocket appropriate for a chain pitch of 1 mm are respectively identified as pitch diameter aspect, tip diameter aspect and caliper diameter element. The respective components for respective numbers of teeth are listed below. If these aspects are multiplied by chain pitch, the basic dimensions of your corresponding sprocket could be obtained.
Illustration:
During the case of 80 (25.40 mm pitch) with 35 teeth Pitch diameter (Dp) = P×Pitch diameter aspect
Calculation formulas for tooth gap forms
As the most rational tooth gap kinds in which the stress angle modifications in response on the elongation of the smoothly rotated roller chain with the lapse of services time, ANSI specify two sorts of tooth profiles: U-type and S-type. On the whole, S-type tooth profiles are adopted in accordance with ANSI, and our typical sprockets also have S-tooth profiles.
